I like jEdit (www.jedit.org) a lot. It's not really an IDE, but once you install a few plug-ins, it makes a good stand-in for one. There are plugins for Ant, XML, Compilers, and a JSwat debugger plugin that should work once we get 1.4, etc.

It has good OS X support, and a great crowd of developers who seem to be very into making people happy. At my last job, when I started no one was using it, and when I left, I'd converted about 50% of the programmers.
