Keep in mind that the preview is marked in big, unfriendly letters DON"T USE FOR PRODUCTION WORK. It's not a finished implementation yet, and--by Apple's own statement--has *not* been extensively tested. If the lack of a shutdown hook is your worst problem, you're probably much better off waiting. Also, if you switch, you can't use java-dev to talk about any problems you have (because the preview is under an NDA); you have to use the java-seed list. (News of the java-seed list is sent after you download the preview.)
