Re: Newbie question

Both comments, I greatly appreciate.

I realize a question like the one I posed was too general and details are important.

Example....
The java app and the c app were both running on a webserver. the java app was executed within Tomcat.

The c app was called from the shell via a php command.

The time point is of course critical is you are sitting waiting for a page to load. I realize that there is some work being done when a servlet is run the first time, and subsequent calls are faster, but the time was clearly faster using the C app.

You did indeed answer my question for Cocoa. "It depends"
