I've never experimented with this. My first thought is that it might be easier
to try to make the table fill all the visible space of the viewport when its
minimum size is not bigger than it. You can try overriding the getMinimumSize()
or getPreferredSize() method of the table, and then also its paintComponent()
method to draw the empty rows?
