I'm not saying you're wrong. I have seen references to the keychain used with java as well. There may be some difference in how default java and how default Cocoa OS/X are expecting to handle this that might need to be taken into account. You might need to transfer from one 'store' to the other for Safari or use one in preference to the other although a non-default location? I guess to start out with what is the correct Safari application default location for a certificate store?
Last I had heard the keychain API's were mainly for managing passwords but the KeyChain role must be expanding?
