That's VERY interesting that Apple's devoting WWDC time to MIDP and
J2ME. Maybe they're not talking about anything at the moment, but
it sure makes you go "hmmm...."

The CEO of mpowerplayer was up on stage showing his wares. He also
noted that the new NetBeans Mobility pack has/will soon have a
recently created Mac installer. (NB - while session content is under
NDA, I do not believe that it falls outside the bounds to note two
currently shipping products, and that no additional public products
were announced.)
Dunno about reading too much into it. I suspect that Apple is not
planning on getting into the portable or cell phone market anytime
soon, and MIDP seems too focussed on handset buttons to really work
for an iPod. That said, being able to develop for this fast-growing
market is clearly important to somebody at the mothership, or it
would not have gotten time at both the tools overview and a dedicated
session.
