As I could see no reason for this behavior, I tried moving the jars
and jnlp files to a different directory. They are exactly the same
files but then Java Web Start does not crash.
So it looks like jnlp does not like the . in the path name.
Thank God I have some good intuitions, or I could have spent
quite a while trying to solve this problem.
