I can't speak for the Java team, but Cocoa-Java works on the Intel-
based
Macs. I just built BlastApp on my system and it ran correctly.
Are you *sure* its executable "wrapper" (located in Contents/MacOS/)
is built for Intel? Or does your newly-built BlastApp simply use
Rosetta at runtime?
You can't use Rosetta with anything Java related. Rosetta
requires the entire process to be for PPC, but in the case of Cocoa
Java, the Java Runtime on the system would be native.
I believe what Eric did was build his Cocoa-Java application on
an Intel Mac development system. I would imagine that this works
without issue for creating a "thin", non-Universal, Intel-only binary
on Xcode on Intel.
Thus, it would appear that Cocoa-Java works on Intel -- it's
just the build process to create a fat binary for Cocoa Java which is
broken (I haven't been able to get it working here either).
I see you posted a thread on this on the xcode-users list, and
will monitor the response there. I have the feeling that Xcode 2.1
is going to require some minor fixes in the near future for a variety
of minor issues like this one.
