Re: Apple's cool-looking Search Box (Quaqua, maybe?)

Did you perhaps mean SwingLabs instead of SwingFX? Not that there's much difference right now. Romain is our intern for the summer and helping us on the SwingLabs demo for JavaOne.

We could definitely use a search control. We have one right now but I think it's just a hack for one of the demos. We plan to make it a real component and have proper L&F support for each platform. Since I'm the resident Mac nut I'll make sure we have good OSX support (Aqua and Metal).

Hi,

my component should go into https://swingfx.dev.java.net/ but at the moment i look like Romain Guy is busy.

with 'ant run' you see a test application. I hope you like it and give me feedback!

Greetings,
I've got an application where I'd like to use the cool, rounded search
box that Finder, iTunes, and Safari (as well as Spotlight, now) all
use, with the dynamically created 'X', and the magnifying glass.

Right now, I'm using a Very Boring plain text box, but many OS X users
have asked that I turn it into a more dynamic box, and one that looks
like what they expect the search box to look like.

I didn't find a component like this in Quaqua, or in a good bit of
googling (perhaps for the wrong terms), but I'm very willing to
believe I overlooked it. Has anyone else worked on, or seen, a
component like this in the open source or relatively cheap world?
