1) I don't see anything at the Metrowerks web site about updates
for CW 8.X for either platform. Does anyone know if anything past
8.1 exists and does it work under 10.4? It looks like Metrowerks is
out of the CW business.
MWRon from Metrowerks explained situation with 8.3 update
"This was my mistake. and it is being corrected. I asked IT to pull
the old
1990's CW 3-11 and archive them and they pulled the newer ones too.
I didn't
notice it until recently.
What you can do right now is go to ftp://ftp.metrowerks.com/pub then
navigate
to I think it is updates/archives/CWP8 I'm sure you can find it.
With the 8.3 update you only needed it, with 8.2 you need 8.1
installed first."
2) Metrowerks does have updates for CW 9.0 for Mac OS but don't
appear to actually sell the product anymore. Does CW 9 allow Java
development under Mac OS X? Any experience under 10.4?
CW 9.X doesn't support java. latest CW version is 9.5
CW 8.3 does support java
and it works fine on Tiger, except DnD issue: you can not DnD files
into IDE window
however you can add them from Project menu
CW9.4 has the same problem, but Metrowerks fixed that problem in 9.5
I can not see any CW crashing on my Powerbook (10.4.1)
it's very stable here
eclipse/idea and whatever ide can only dream about performance of CW
compiler
unfortunately it looks like that CW doesn't have future
I think you have "read only" problem because you use files that you
copied from windows

Does anyone know where I might download the updates from CW 8.1 to
8.2 and 8.3? Otherwise, I will gladly reimburse postage and
materials if someone would be kind enough to burn me a CD with
these updates. I live in the US near Seattle. TIA
