Interesting, thanks for the pointer. There might be a connection, but this specific bug only exists in Apple's implementation of Java 5; it doesn't exist in Apple's port of 1.4.2_07, and it doesn't exist in Sun's implementation on Windows or Linux.

It's worth noting Sun Bug 4479363:
