NSData and XML

Is it possible to save an object in XML-format using NSData? When using an xmlencoder a new thread should be created and I'm guessing it could be done easily using NSData.

I can't find anything sutable in NSData for saving and loading data (a Vector in this case).

Am I the only one with troubles finding descent examples of cocoa- java on the web?
