It may be YOUR desired behavior, but it appears to conflict with the specified behavior described in the Preferences API. It also isn't repeatable on any of my Mac configurations.

My config is Intel 10.4.8 with build 1.5.0_06-112. Having redone the test, I confirm that I get the same result as yours i.e. the com/ example node remains. I must have been too quick in my conclusions earlier today. Sorry.


On Windows, it does the same (i.e. remove the whole subtree, not only the keys). I also tested this on Linux and it is the same. So this is the normal behaviour. So I agree with you, this is not MY desired behaviour :) I just don't see any reason for the system to keep nodes that have only key-less or child-less children, but this is just me. However as it is the rule, I will think through my desintaller again to accomodate that.
