Re: NetBeans 5.5 / Java SE 6

You can edit the netbeans.conf file and add netbeans_jdkhome flag and add the directory that points to Java SE 6 -
something like this :
-------------------------
# default location of J2SE JDK, can be overridden by using --jdkhome <dir> switch
netbeans_jdkhome="/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home"
--------------------------
Other flags can also be included in the netbeans.conf file - you can find a write-up on them here :

I just installed Java SE 6.0 (build 1.6.0-dp-b88-34) on my Core 2 Duo MacBook and my code now runs 30% faster!  But I don't know how to make NB run the new JVM without reinstalling.

According to the release note, JIT is currently Intel only, which explains why NB was so slow on my PB G4.

I don't know this for a fact, but I think I heard somewhere (here?) that the JIT in Java 6 for MacOSX/Intel is/will be much better than the JIT in Java 6 for MacOSX/PPC - so I would think it would be worth trying NetBeans (or anything else) on Java 6 on MacOSX/Intel...

Does anyone experience poor performance of NetBeans 5.5 on Jave SE
6?  This was a big issue for me a few weeks ago on my PowerBook G4,
so I am not sure whether it's worth trying again with my new MacBook
Core 2 Duo.

Thanks, Aeon
