I should add that I have the beta of SWT Compatibility Libraries for Java 5 installed. Perhaps it's possible that they are causing a leak in AWT?

Oh, and the OS version is 10.4.7.

Hmmm... keep in mind that I'm regularly using NBbeta5.5 and I just seldom see GUI refresh problems (only in the dropdown menu for the selection of the open document).
I have some sporadic nullpointerexception (with no consequences) and the use of reverse-engineering for generating UML diagrams sometimes corrupts the code (but this
is reasonable, it's one of the newest features). I don't have any SWT compatiblity library installed (I mean, I don't know them but I don't suppose they are on
my system, I also have Eclipse installed, does it also install automatically the SWT Compat libs?

The SWT Compatibility thing is from Apple, available through the Apple Developer Connection in beta form since mid-May.
I have now re-installed Java 5 update 4 by deleting the receipt and running software update... That seems to have improved things greatly. I'm not sure if that has undone various things that the SWT hack and/or Java 6 beta might have done, but the memory growth seems to have slowed. I will keep an eye on it, but I think the leak has been plugged.

I should give NB5.5beta a try again. If this was AWT related then perhaps my painting problems have been fixed as well.

If I have the time I may re-install the SWT hack to verify. Obviously a bug should be filed against it, if it turns out to be directly related to the problem.
