First I had a 512Mb one, and did'nt had any problem with developing while using Mail and Browsing was. But with a mysql, an apache and a somewat big perl server running, the application switch usualy taked more time than expected. So upgraded to 1Gb and now everything is perfect.

I'm using the "5.5beta", and the great profiler a lot. The only glitch is than sometimes the keyboard "loses" the connection with Netbeans (once a day, more or less). But doing some "window switch" trick everything gets back in seconds. It's a "beta" problem, hope will be solved by the production version.

I have never been forced to shut it down, even if it has more problems with memory than Eclipse (I've to add that i mostly use NetBeans5.5beta, maybe there's some fix in it).

Well NB 5.5 has worse problems... the display is often corrupted such that the source code is not painted and various images appear in the wrong place. It's much less stable on my system.

I only have 768MB in this PowerBook. Which should be enough to run NetBeans for small projects.
