I'm trying to use JarBundler to set up icons and associated
documents for my application, and the results are sporadic at best.
Once or twice I've managed to get the icon to show up in the
Finder. However, usually I get a generic app icon. However, I do
see the correct icon in the dock when the application is running.
Document types don;t appear to get associated at all.
Hi Elliotte,
Recently, there was a relevant thread about application icons and
JarBundler:
In addition to what is in the thread I have found that the following
steps will reveal the icon:
Select the application in the finder and open an Info Window on it
using Command-I
Click on the application icon in the top left of the Info Window so
that it gets a blue focus
Copy the icon using Command-C
Then do a Paste using a Command-P to paste the generic icon back in
Now do a Cut using Command-X to cut the generic icon and the proper
icon will be revealed!!!!!!
I think this is an update issue of the Finder and maybe with
JarBundler not requesting some sort of update on the Finder.
However, it is not restricted to JarBundler as I initially observed
this using the Export to Mac OS X Bundle facility within Eclipse.
I don't know about associated documents but perhaps you could try the
same procedure with one of your documents - it might just produce the
correct icon for that one document or you might be lucky.
Restarting your machine and logging on/off also appear to work but
that interrupts your workflow quite badly so hopefully the above
might help.
Best Regards,
Ian Cheyne
