How can I Installing Java SDK and Eclipse

I have downloaded the JAVA Version from apple.com and also the eclipse 3.1.2 tar.gz

I installed JAVA with the installer tool and the command java - version show me, that only JAVA runtime enviroment is installed. Eclipse works also not.

Can anybody give me an solution?
