Re: USB to Serial drivers for Mac OS X

Melvin,

We are currently using adapters from Serial IO. They are a little bit cheaper than the Keyspan adapters at about $18 a piece.

They also sell a Java library that you can use, but I haven't had any problems using RXTX. I believe that their library also uses the Java Comm API, if you had written code around RXTX and decided you needed their library for some reason, you wouldn't have to rewrite much code.

I already saw that link. Anyway, I'll probably get that Keyspan thing since even google has trouble searching a solution for me. I just find it too expensive just for that use. Well, that's life I guess. hehe ;-)

Thanks a lot for all the help I got from the list.

It's pretty unlikely.  I know of no technology for doing such a thing, and
if there were such technology, it'd be a pretty hot product.

I also googled for Mac OS X drivers for a Semitech device (keywords:
semitech usb mac os x), and only found one halfway decent hit:

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem fruitful, because the only suggested remedy
is to "go into the HID section of your Device Manager" and make some
changes, but Device Manager isn't a Mac OS X application, so I don't know
how to turn that suggestion into something you can actually do.

You may be better at googling than I am, though, so it may be worth your
time to search more.

Other than that, I think your best option is to buy a device that comes
with drivers for Mac OS X.
