I assumed the .dsstore or whatever file would determine icons but the
above does mention a resource fork and I just checked a mounted dmg
and the only . file is .Trashes.
I also found an empty wikipedia entry I didn't hang onto the url for.
All very interesting but a full Apple unsupported implementation
looks to be a lot of work for a fragile end product. I'd guess your
best bet would be for a .dmg you should use your Mac.
I to some extent have tried to support the application bundle as a
java cross-platform launcher. Unfortunately anything not JVM related,
start up JVM arguments, classpath, etc is meaningless on any other
platform. On the plus side being meaningless it should not be subject
to cross-platform malfunctions. Which is why I distribute my
AppEditVerify code as a .dmg. All the stuff it verifies and tries to
fix, and there isn't that much really, is however, OS/X specific.
