You will need to open up the target settings for your Java application and set the Target VM Version to 1.4+ under "Pure Java Specific", as well as Source and Target VM versions of 1.4 (or earlier) under "Java Compiler Settings".

"Open up the target settings" means: click on the target in the "groups & files" on the left. Then press <return> (not the Info button!), or select "Edit Active Target" under the Project menu.
