new: XGridClient

Dear all,

after a while I am not posting to the list I will let you know I am still alive.... ;-))

Now the topic:
I just wrote a library to use the XGrid network available with Tiger from Java without using the XGrid command line. I am using it successfully in my program from a while, so I decided to share the work with the Java/Mac community. I hope someone will find it useful.

I put together with an example the XGridClient package I wrote three months ago. I am using it in my java program to submit directly jobs to the XGrid controller.
I put everything (source, documentation, example) at:

http://www.ing.unitn.it/~luttero/javaonMac

look for the XGridClient

Check the readme and if you have already a controller running on your network you just need to run from the xgridclient folder:

java -jar xgridclient.jar

and it will spawn 10 Hello world jobs to the XGrid network. It will also transfer a file and check for it.
Otherwise just check the readme, there are few instructions on how to run a controller.

Check the source code of the example and see how it work. I hope it can help your job. Suggestion and problems are welcome. I just put inside it the minimum I needed to work, so the library can be improved a lot.

One note: it works also on a non Mac system. Just it needs a JVM and a Mac XGrid controller somewhere.

Enjoy it,

		Luca
