I think so too, again with the understanding that it gcc compiles 'C' source on the fly requiring a user to have Developer Tools installed. Most of my current efforts related to this are to have a single standalone jnilib produced, based off of header file API definitions, which would eliminate this dependancy. The JNIDirect white paper I think outlines a different possible approach involving caching jnilib's.
I did not originate JNIDirect, that was Patrick Beard. I do not currently distribute an executable replacing what he started out with. That is in Linker.jar. My macnative SourceForge project does make mention of his jnidirect project. Mine you must of found at... which states...
I must not of figured out how to include a link on the SourceForge page. Or was uncertain of the appropriateness of including a link without permission. Although usually I do that somewhat gratuitously. Anyway, the JNIDirect project itself is at...Actually more current for my macnative JNIDirect package might be found off my home page URL below.
