Quartz/Sun image pipeline

Is it possible at runtime to figure out exactly which graphics pipeline we're using? (If so, how?)

There's some work-around code that's a little expensive to execute, if in a future project we switch to the sun pipeline... it'd be nice if our code was smart enough to automatically ignore the work-around.
