Re: Re-installing Netbeans

Hi Lou,

Mike has good advise. Setting aside the ~/.netbeans directory will force NB to rebuild your user area from scratch. This often solves the problem where not all choices for new projects show up. Rarely does reinstalling NB change anything.

Which version of NB are you using? NB 5.5 Beta perhaps? What version was used with the "old" projects?

What about Java 1.5? Is there a way to do a "clean" re-install? or shouldn't
I bother?

I'm not a Netbeans user and to be safe you would probably want to wait until you here something from them. But it's usually pretty safe to move something aside where it won't be found. Then you can always put it back later.
mv ~/.Netbeans ~/Desktop/.Netbeans
Maybe. Then try it.
I would probably do this before attempting a clean install on the off-chance it clears up your problems. Maybe not a good chance but reasonably little effort and risk. Generally proceeding from easy and safe to more involved and riskier is a somewhat optimistic approach.
