I've come to the conclusion that JBuilder is junk on a Mac -
particularly with the move to Java 5.0. Borland show no interest in
supporting it. So, I've recently moved over to Eclipse, which is
great - and free. Incidentally, I understand that JBuilder itself is
due to become nothing more than some specialised Eclipse plugins
fairly soon, so it looks like Borland came to the same conclusion.

I have been using the latest JBuilder on the Mac for the past six
months or so and frankly I don't care for it. It does have a lot of
nifty features but is very slow on my 1.67 GHz PowerBook ( 2GB
RAM), buggy, and fairly idiosyncratic on basics like text
selection. My gold standard in the past was CodeWarrior which while
not as feature rich as JB was a LOT faster and more stable but
unfortunately isn't a viable choice anymore. I am not trying to re-
ignite the IDE wars so my message is narrowly focused toward
developers that have switched from JBuilder to other commercial or
free Java IDEs. In particular, I'm interested in speed comparisons,
usability of the source-level debugger, and compatibility with SVN.
