btw, also the insinuation that the PowerPC-ness of the release is
only good for laughs makes me wonder. Has *everybody* jumped on
the early release of the Intel Mac's? I've always thought it was a
good idea to wait for 2nd/3rd generations of those kinds of
changes. Any early adopters of the 17" macbook pro??

I think you are missing my point. You needed to read the release
notes to appreciate what I was referring to.
In any case, I'll be trying it out on my PowerBook.. this is the one
time that I'm glad that installing a later version of Java doesn't
change the "default".
