Open the Build Results window ( choose the Build->Build Results menu
item). In the Build Results window, note a small four icons at the
lower left hand corner of the window, a check mark, a yellow warning
triangle, a text icon and an inverted black triangle. If you hold
your mouse pointer over the text icon, a tool tip should say, "Select
this to show or hide the build transcript".
Click on the text icon to show the build transcript. Now, if you
click on a "cannot find symbol" error message in the build summary,
it will scroll the build transcript to the corresponding error and
provide a fuller explanation of the error. In particular, for a
"cannot find symbol" error, the name of the symbol not found should
be shown on the next line.

Jerry

I am recently new user of XCode for Java programming.
Is it possible to make XCode give a better error message than
'cannot find symbol', such as stating the symbol it cannot find?
This seems like a very basic compiler issue. I tried the additional
-verbose compiler flag, but it seems to have no effect.
