Re: FileDialog vs JFileChooser

Dear Joshua,

I am perfectly happy with the FileChooserUI for Windows. It does the job,
and it is regularly updated by the Swing team to follow changes in the
Windows user interface.

Apple's implementation would be good enough too, if it had a proper
SystemFileView. So that users - who don't know about the "/Volumes"
directory on Mac OS X - can easily discover files that are not on the system
volume.

Now, since you asked about ideas for new features in the FileDialog. Here is
what I would think to be a useful enhancement:

It would be greate to have a possibility to have an AWT file dialog
available that can be added as a heavy weight component to a swing
JComponent. This way, one could have both the full functionality of a native
file dialog and still have the possibility to add an accessory panel to it.

With kind regards,
Werner
