I don't mean to step on anyone's toes but this is a good example of a simple point getting diluted and distorted by the endless debates on this list and which make me generally stay away from it now.
The point is, people write code using JFileChooser and Apple's implementation is awful. The Apple Java team needs to wake up and fix it. This has nothing to do with being rude or upset.
If you want to debate something, ask why the JFileChooser has been subpar for so long when someone asks about it regularly on this list. This could also be said about many other disappointing components in Apple's Aqua L&F.
