I don't believe the default Swing D&D support for JTree will handle this specific case. I would double check. Some tutorials from Mr. D&D himself are available here: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/shan_man/archive/2006/02/choosing_the_dr.html http://weblogs.java.net/blog/shan_man/archive/2006/01/first_class_dra.html
If Swing D&D doesn't handle this you will need to implement it using AWT D&D instead. You will have more flexibility with this type of implementation. A tutorial for that is available here: http://www.javaworld.com/javatips/jw-javatip97.html

Hi,
I have a jtree which is limited to 2 levels. I want that only the level 2 nodes are dragable to another level 1 node, and only to a level 1 node. the root and the level 1 nodes may not be dragable. also, the level 2 nodes represent xml files which contain the name of their parent node, so if a node is draganddropped the parent node is changed and that has to be changed also in the file represented by that node.
How do I do that?
