OpenJDK OS X port?

With Apple delaying Leopard and speculation rife that JDK 6.0 will only be released at the same time as Leopard, what do you think the odds are that some frustrated Mac Java developers will start porting the Open JDK code (once the class libraries are fully open sourced) to OS X.

On at least a philosophical level, it seems like a very plausible scenario, especially if Apple totally drops the ball on maintaining its own version of Java.  The only proprietary goodies that would be hard to replicate would be the Quartz/Aqua integrated Swing libraries.

I say bring it on!  Even if the ported JDK only really really works for command-line/server-side code, it would be a most welcome development.
