Re: OpenJDK OS X port?

Ok, I admit I was being a bit over-dramatic.

But, Firefox uses the Java Embedding Plugin, which is still pretty buggy compared to Apple's plugin that Safari uses. Although, can't really compare the two too harshly; the Java Embedding Plugin is still beta software.

It'd be nice if Apple supplied a nicely polished, universal plugin like Sun does for Windows, Linux, and Solaris, instead of essentially saying, "If you want it so bad, make it yourself." (See question 4 @ http://developer.apple.com/java/faq/ )

left non-WebKit browsers with Java 1.3

Firefox will use Java 1.5 and, as best I can tell, it uses the same method that Safari does.

I believe this is a browser issue not an Apple issue.
