Hi Erik!

My customer wants to avert MP3-Licensing issues by using the onboard decoders of the target OSes (Win XP/Mac OSX).

So the JLayer/Triton plugins are out oft the question.

For Win we're using the DirectShow-API through an custom-built DLL via JNI.

For Mac OS X we want to do something similar through a DYLIB.

Sadly my programming skills are somewhat Java-centric.

As I understand it, SHOUTcast is not a codec, but a streaming
protocol for MP3 or AAC.

You're right about that!

But it extends the MP3-format by some meta informations (Station, current Track, etc.).
