Are you suggesting that you want to pass -d64 in Info.plist inside
VMOptions? That is an interesting idea and you could file an
enhancement request for us to look into supporting that.
Precisely. I'm suggesting that you support the standard method
for requesting a 64bit JVM. I'll probably leave any enhancement
request to MacroVision since I hope to soon be once again agnostic
about MacOS specifics.
One issue that came up was that an app that has -d64 in the
VMOptions field would fail to launch on Tiger since Java on Tiger
does not understand -d64 and would just fail. So you wouldn't be
able to deploy the same app on Tiger and Leopard. By having a
separate VMArchs key, the same app can continue to run on Tiger (in
32-bit) while running in 64-bit (if possible) on Leopard.
Pratik
Unless you released a Java update for Tiger which silently ignores
the -d64 flag. Perhaps in the final version of Java for Mac OS X
10.4, Release 6 for which we received DP 1 last month?
