But there's no point in flaming away on this list. (Not that Henry
was flaming, but...)
"On this list" is the part that has to do with relevance. PLEASE
bring networked pressure to bear -- I want Java 6 as much as the next
guy. But do it in a way that'll actually work. The Java-dev list
doesn't reach people at Apple who can respond to the pressure. So
make the point in venues that might actually make a difference
instead. (That's for Henry, and anyone else who's trying to make a
business case for why Apple should care). And avoid denigrating the
hard-working guys and gals who are trying to make our Java development
lives a bit smoother. (that's for the people who are going over-the-
top on their messages).

Yochai Benkler made a point as to how Networked pressure has worked
before, and he explains in great
detail how this was done in chapter 7 of this book http://www.benkler.org/wonchapters.html
It is a very interesting read and should give some good ideas as to
how this may work.

Henry makes an entirely reasonable point. But it's a point that
isn't relevant to this particular venue! The people at Apple who
read this list are NOT empowered to take the kind of action you
(and presumably we all) want. Or if they are, they're not empowered
to tell us about it.
Put networked pressure on Apple. Send them comments and requests.
Make it clear that there are $$ (and Pounds, Euros, Yen, whatever)
attached to having Java 6 on the Mac, preferably sooner rather than
later. I'd LOVE to have Java 6 on my Macs, preferably last week at
the latest.
