Man, that sounded bad. Just to clarify, I meant to say that I do not
wish to use or pay for Windows on my new PC. I plan to run only
Ubuntu on my new system and nothing else, especially not Windows.

Just to add my perspective on the whole Java 6 on OS X debate:
I've decided not to wait for Apple to come up with a Java 6
release. Furthermore, despite Landon Fuller's heroic efforts, I
don't see any stable, reliable, and especially, complete version of
Java 6 on the horizon for OS X. Also, I need to be able to try out
new Sun innovations like the Consumer JRE with the "N" Java 6
update. I can't do that on OS X. My career depends that I stay up
to date with the latest Java technologies, and I can't do that with
a Mac anymore.
Therefore, I'm shopping for a new PC. The only reason I don't have
one yet is that I have a fanatical aversion to paying for a Windows
license, which means I have to spend longer to find a reliable beige
box dealer who will sell me a naked PC, and make sure that all the
component parts are Linux compatible. Also, there are no reliable
retailers that I know of in Canada that sell powerful enough
machines with Linux pre-installed. Still, I'll hopefully have my
new box by the new year.
As Linux/FreeBSD/OpenSolaris improve further, I'll probably find
myself gradually moving away from the Mac platform.
There's no point in being angry or complaining further about Apple's
Java 6 policy. It's time for me to do what's in my best
interests. My career comes first, and whatever admiration I have
for Apple hardware and software comes second.
