What about Java for middleware on the Apple Server?

Is that not of interest to Apple? Java is bigger as middleware than client, right?

Or does Apple not care that much about their Xserve/Server offerings either ?

I'm not a "developer" in the commercial sense - I build systems for basic CS/NLP/graphics research at Northeastern U. in Boston.

But I care about Java because of its utility as middleware and my ability to distribute my systems to other researchers. I have no choice but to test my systems in Java 6 on Windows, Solaris, and Ubuntu, if I'm going to distribute them widely.
