Re: Java-dev Digest, Vol 4, Issue 500

Hi Greg,

The thing is, I'm already running BootCamp with Windows, and I think I'd be complicating my life a bit too much by setting up a third partition on my iMac, which only has 250 Gb of hard drive.

Besides, since I work as a programmer, I should probably have more than one PC, anyway.

I'd rather not pay for another Mac, since it would be too expensive.   The only reason to pay more for Mac hardware is to run OS X.   OS X is what makes Macs worth the premium.   Unfortunately, OS X won't include Java 6 for a while.

Thanks,
Luke

Ubuntu won't run on Mac hardware?  I'm sure I've read articles about it
running on some recent Mac models, or even older PPC ones.

I mean, if the outlay for hardware is the problem, isn't there a way to use
the hardware you have now, or is your Mac hardware so old you can't
possibly put Ubuntu on it?

Just wondering, since you seemed to approve of Mac hardware.
