Re: DIscussing JDK 6 DP 8 on java-dev list?

Okay, so assuming communication from Apple will be "par for the course" until GM, should we file bug reports requesting 32-bit/PPC support or is our time better spent pissing into the ocean ;)

Erik,

Java SE 6 supports 64-bit Intel, and we cannot comment about platform support, OS version support, or what bugs may or may not be fixed for final GM or any future update. Our policy is to release as soon as something is ready.

Does that mean I should file a bug report requesting Java 6 for 32-bit PowerPC, or can you (or some other Apple representative) contact me via e-mail directly and let me know if a 32-bit and/or PowerPC compatible JDK will be provided in a later DP or final release? Better yet, can the release notes for the current and future DPs at least contain some information about the next planned release? If it's in the release notes, then it's bound by the ADC T&C and those of us who care will know where to find it. I'm envisioning a 'planned features' section that outlines some broad goals for the release version (e.g. - PowerPC support, OpenGL pipeline, etc.) and if a decision has been made to NOT support a specific feature that was previously available, it would be great to know why, but at the very least let us know.

We do not currently have an approved discussion forum for pre-release software, Java or otherwise.  The developer mailing lists are public forums with public archives which do not require an ADC account to join. Therefore they do not fall under ADC Terms and Conditions.  Bug reports and direct (read: off-list) emails to Apple employees are in that order the best way to provide feedback at this time.

Where is the definitive list of 'Apple-approved feedback channels'? Is this list not one?
