I am not seeing the crash that you mentioned. I can debug in
eclipse just fine. i even tried the Yourkit profiler that uses
JVMTI to confirm that JVMTI is running okay with release 6.
Do you see this with a clean workspace? With a new, simple
HelloWorld project? Can you check and make sure you have the
following file on your machine
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/
Libraries/libdt_socket.jnilib
That's the file its complaining about.

Is it possible to uninstall Java Release 6?
Not only does it break drag-and-drop for me, it breaks debugging
from Eclipse:
ERROR: transport library not found: dt_socket ["transport.c",L173]
ERROR: JDWP Transport dt_socket failed to initialize,
TRANSPORT_LOAD(509) ["debugInit.c",L500]
JDWP exit error JVMTI_ERROR_INTERNAL(113): No transports initialized
FATAL ERROR in native method: JDWP No transports initialized,
jvmtiError=JVMTI_ERROR_INTERNAL(113)
