Amit Singh's "Mac OS X Internals" contains just such a program,
which is
the code you'll need whether you go the JNI route or the separate
executable route.
Yes, I was thinking of Amit Singh's code, but he doesn't allow
redistribution, so any use of it would have to be for personal use
only.
Or you'd have to manually direct users how to get and install it.
