Netbeans is probably as close as you're going to get in the Java world to
the RAD environment for web and desktop apps that you're used to with VS.

It's a bit dated and is written from the perspective of going from Java to
C#, but should still serve as a good reference for going the other way.

Subject: Developing Java on the mac
Hi all,
I would like to start developing in Java ( would much rather do it on
ObjC, but i don't know enough and cant find the right books ), as a
hobby. I am coming from working with VS and C# ( although i hate to
admit it, C# is a good language ), and would like something similar,
maybe like eclipse, to develop Java Applications on the mac. I
apologize for the noob question and thank you all in advance.
