if you like C# as a language you have to take a look to mono
(http://www.mono-project.com) the os implementation of .NET, c#.and a lot
more! There's also an version for mac.
Yes I know this suggestion is a little bit off topic and I really enjoy
developing Java on Mac. But why should people not migrate in two steps? First
changing the os and later on the language ;-)
Better to pick the language that best suits your skillset, the target
platform, AND your eventual goals. Consider how Java apps look on
your target platforms, and whether you intend to target several
platforms at once. Ask whether you will be splitting out backend and
frontend, and if you are, whether you are actually doing a
client-server app. Decide how much retraining you want to do, and
what language you intend to be using in six months.
The best choice may be mono, but selecting it only because you already
know it, rather than because you know it _and_ it is what you intend
to use in the future will likely hurt.
