Re: Java on Leopard report

How about JavaFX?  How about Scripting on the JVM?  Ruby may be where "the puck is going to be", but I would say there is more than a 50% chance it will be JRuby when it finally gets there.

Take rails and allow for access to the entire library of open source Java. You've got the structure that others have deemed so necessary, along with the flexibility of RoR, whats not to like...will it solve every enterprise IT problem, no.  It will be a very compelling platform though.

I think what many of us are frustrated about is this.  In 2004-2005, many enterprise java developers saw a compelling platform in the Mac.  Java was a first class citizen, Apple had arguably the easiest to use unix on the planet, Eclipse and NetBeans ran well on it, and we could run java AND look good doing it.  Fast forward to today.  Where is Apple's focus on Java?  I really do feel like Apple pulled the rug out from under me.  Here I am wanting to get at all the new features of Java 6, and Apple won't even give me the time of day.

How is it not technical that when I want to develop to the same
environment (Java6) that all the other developers in my office are
using and we are running on our production servers that my Mac
becomes so much decorative baggage?  Sounds like a technical failing
to me.
