Java + Leopard = Not So Bad So Far

Well - I got Leopard installed and some of my dev environment up. I think that both Eclipse and Netbeans seem to be running great.

Yea - I want 6, too, but 5 seems pretty good. Actually, really good.

I also tried one of my favorite gizmos - try the webstart at http://publicobject.com/glazedlists/

Also try out https://substance.dev.java.net/

The apps launch crazy fast, and the demos work perfectly. (Well as well as they work anywhere...)

I noticed that the menu font size in Eclipse is wonky for the Help menu. Is it just me, or is the font slightly different sizes on different menus? The Run menu seems slightly larger.

The Help menu font in Netbeans is also wonky.

Overall, I am pleased. As I said before, I am very happy working on my Mac. It seems to me that my experience developing Java on the Mac is BETTER than before.

I love JDK 5 on Leopard!

I love Leopard. There are so many little details and refinements that I am very impressed. The online reviews do not do it justice.

If Apple can keep up the good work, things are going to be fine, folks. I for one will not leave Mac for Vista or Linux. They have zero refinement.

Great job so far to the Apple engineers working on Java.
