There is no supported way to revert to a specific previous version of Java.
There are unsupported ways to do so, and google or Java-Dev list archive
search should reveal them:
<http://lists.apple.com/archives/java-dev/2007>
Suggested search terms:
revert previous java
The only supported way I know of to revert Java is to revert the OS
install, since the Java frameworks are OS frameworks. You can do this
while preserving all network and account settings by choosing the "Archive
and Install" option when you run the OS installer. See this article:
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120>
Or google for:
mac os archive and install
You would then apply any necessary updates, EXCEPT the 1.5.0_07-164 one.
The normal Software Update app can apply these, if you wish.
Or if you expect you may want to revert again in the future, you can get
the downloads individually and apply them manually. That's how I do it,
but I also have multiple bootable partitions, so it's not unusual for me to
apply something to a duplicated partition and then revert or discard it
entirely.
