Hey Gang,
two off-list replies were very helpful: one pointed out that the
finder's go menu lists a bunch of keyboard shortcuts (not including
command-d) that do seem to work in the standard file dialogs and
someone else pointed out that cmd-shift-g opens a sheet or a window
to type in a path with tab completion. I'm guessing this covers a
lot of ground! Many thanks!
I am going to assume that things like /Volumes are always the same
path even in non US locales. If that's not correct please let me know.
A few of these things are probably non-trivial to implement (I
don't have an iDisk, and I probably don't have time for the command-
shift-g bit) so I'll just leave hooks for them, but I could also
post my patches here before I send them to Werner in case other
folks want to fill that stuff in.
Thanks again,
bjorn

Hey all,
Someone noticed that the Quaqua file chooser dialogs don't
respond to command-d (usually, on the mac, this takes you to your
home directory). I emailed with Werner Randelshofer (author of
quaqua) and he confirmed it was an oversight. I'm not aware of
any other keyboard shortcuts like this but I'd hate go to the
trouble of fixing one and miss something else. If anyone here
knows of anything similar, (I would think there'd be a shortcut
for home dir and documents dir at least), or any localization
issues I should think about (I was just going to bind meta-d),
I'd appreciate it so I could give Werner the right patch!
I'm planning to write the patch this afternoon (eastern). So, if
you've got a minute right now, play with the file chooser in some
app and then play with quaqua's and let me know if you find
something different.
Thanks,
bjorn
