Re: (slightly off topic!) port to Linux... development machine

I've previously used Parallels Desktop but since v3 it's sprouted bells and whistles but dropped stability, IMO.
I now use VMWare Fusion - seems to be a lot more stable.

I run Ubuntu, XP,Vista and Solaris X86, all without any major difficulties.

Trying to buy a development machine for Linux (and without Windoze installed) is proving quite hard (I'm in France)!
Would a Mac run Linux? Any Linux? Would it have to be an intel one?
Suse is the preferred option for Linux flavour, as apparently that's what the majority of potential users have been given.
With both ADC and MSDN subscriptions I would ideally prefer to get a machine without any OS pre-installed, but that's like looking for hen's teeth :(
