java.lang missing from classpath?

Hello the list,

I'm trying to build Apache Jakarta Taglibs on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.4.10, using JDK 1.5.0_07), but I get the following exception:

[javac] Fatal Error: Unable to find package java.lang in classpath or bootclasspath

I can build just fine on Linux using the same JDK version. Does anyone happen to know what the problem might be?
